About the M-Unit . Seems like a good project to take on if Scotch wants to take the lead. Because if I did it, it would take too long- at least. I still work for a living, out of town- in fact a long way out of town , often do a lot of extra hours, have to cook for myself, eat it and then clean up.-and do my own laundry. So sometimes , time is very short.
However- I do eventually get there, but something like this needs momentum - my input would be somewhat sporadic.
But having been re-juvenated by the new Blue unit , I'm waiting for some new tools to arrive - namely a crimping tool to crimp 24 awg wire ( which is quite small ) and the wire itself . One of the many benefits of this system is the use of small diameter wire - in this case .51mm - this would be the trigger wire. I didn't do this last time so it needs some new "stuff "
The motogadget dashboard , separate from the speedometer/tachometer is all small wire so this time around , I',m going to do things a little different.
I'll post some photo's of what has been done last time round over the weekend.

I'm looking forward to seeing how you progress with this, tackelhappy. I love hi-tech devices such as the M-Unit!

As a spanner twiddler of limited ability, I am genuinely in awe of what you guiys can turn your hands to: respect !

Stan you were looking for Carb to Airbox rubbers: I know Helmut at the German shop has them: wont be cheap, but if you get stuck you could give him a try.

Good morning guys!

Tacklehappy, please post anything you have done or do regarding the M-unit! Photos of all the parts and tools with short detailed explanation would help me started. Scotch suggested that since I am doing everything from scratch, why not doing it up to the current technology. And like I said before, I don't have any of the light fixtures, so it would be cheaper to buy aftermarket lights and spend the money on this unit instead. To satisfy my purist urges, I can leave collecting oem hardware for later. I can relate to you not having time, as I am in a similar situation. Except the work part, which I must change soon or I will not be able to pay for this project and everything else, and with that my available time will also dwindle...

Tim - thank you. Yes, I know he has them. I am just trying to source them locally if possible. Helmut has lots of good stuff, but prices in Euro converted to Canadian dollars make them sky high. If I am not mistaken, with shipping it would be about $60 per one rubber. I might just use duct tape instead, hahaha

Could anyone give me the dimensions of the oem headlight? I am searching for a modern replacement. I found THESE and I like the look.

Also the fork ears, which I understand are 41 mm, and all four turn signals.

These EARS look fine to me if I would mount the turn signals directly on the forks.

Any leads, suggestions?

UPDATE:
Those ears arrived. I ordered them anyway at this price. They are solid and well done. I also just pressed 'buy' button and purchased the headlight. At $20 is a chance worth taking. I have a good feeling about it. I can make it fit. And I will be looking for fork relocation clamps to mount turn signals, which I am still searching for.
In the meantime - please feel free to suggest alternatives. I have a feeling that I might be able to have all my lights for the bike for under a 100 bucks.
