Sorry about your experience with painting the cyl-block, Stan. I have no experience with this task but I can see one obvious conclusion - Polish it!. :woohoo: You might possibly be the first one ? You may have to hand out sunglasses, however!B)
To help you visualize :

A couple of end-covers I made from .030: Aircraft aluminum

Scotch, we might be onto something here. I had an idea painting it black but making the side of the block just like this one - polished. It would a good contrast.
This is what I might do. And the rest, hell, just hope it will stick to it eventually! haha
But seriously, I wanted the damn paint to be solid. I seems to be in other places but that one obviously is a flake. I have no choice but revisit the block and check what's going on. It's a set back but not a deal breaker. Most important is to have this bike working and in one piece.

Biltonjim, Tonto - I am going to get a can or two of the PJ1 and try it. Tonto - that's a beautiful bike! Congratulations!

Scotch - thank you for rubbing it in, haha Yes, looks like a bike I want to have! lol End covers - you mean you cut a square and glued it to the ends?

Stan: a picture is worth a thousand words in Japanese

The pieces are square despite the Parallex view of the camera.

Scotch, you're full of surprises! I was thinking about just polishing this part, or instead of the whole area, keeping shiny just the corners as if to simulate long bolts.
The engine mounts - considered chrome as well but this can wait. The plating shop told me they will charge me the same as if I would be doing nickel on a few small parts, so I opted for chrome. While I am very happy about cleaning things up, all is still a looong way to go.
Yes, a picture is worth in our case 2500 characters! hahaha Not sure how many words in this case, but we can always post two or three photos to meet the one thousand quota

My understanding is that Nickel is the last layer before the Chrome so I can see the logic. The covers for the cyl.-ends - I'm not certain about. One day I like them, the next day I don't think so. Glad I didn't actually polish the ends, which to some degree was the point of making them.
Still watching for a seat and other parts for you. cheers

Thank you! I will make a list and also post it in parts section. I'm sure it will be incomplete because I just don't know what is hiding out of sight.
For the cylinder ends I have a solution. You need one more bike to make them both ways ;)
Yes, it's triple-plated. Copper, nickel and chrome.
