If ever you want anything, I have a way of getting around your import duties. I send items all the time to the US
Very easy I lie about the value. most times no problem. I send packages of real value £200 I state £20 !
Back to measurements of the bore. Now doing the measurement's correctly. I now have measurements from 62.02 being the smallest to 62.06 being the largest. Took a little time to get the feel of it, but somewhat closer now i think.

All good. Those bore sizes make more sense.
Thanks for the shipping offer. I did something similar for a member in Australia for Viton o-rings. He had got a quote from an o-ring supplier in Newmarket Ontario that I used for a set of O-rings for the carbs to be purchased and sent and it was something stupid like $300. I bought the o-rings and sent them aux gratis. Cost me about $7 to buy and ship by mail. He had them in 4 days since they flew via mail ander ducked importation. Made my day to shove it up the governments arse.

OK Guys, this is where im at. Checked everything over, first valve guides. Four of them will be replaced, found to be worn.
The cylinders have been Honed professionally, this was a fixed hone and not one of those 3 leg type. Bores were very glazed, but within tolerance.
As mentioned before, most of the piston ring end gaps were well out of specification- example limit in the book 0.70 some of my gaps were up to 1,50mm !!!! also some top rings too thin.
I also noticed, between the base gasket and the bores. I found no "o" rings on the bottom of the cylinders !
So after all that, it's ready to go back together. Remember the reason for the re build oil burning excessively.
Now Guy's a few questions if you can help please, Can you tell me a recommended piston ring end gap, all 3 please. As in the book it only gives a maximum tolerance. ????
Please any other tip's on the re-assembly.
Many thanks again.

I've always used .004" per inch of bore diameter for the top ring and .005" per inch of bore diameter for the second ring and .004" per inch of diameter for the oil scrapper rings.
Top ring = .004" x 2.441 = .009764 = .010" ten thou
Second ring = .005" x 2.441 = .012205 =.012" twelve thou
Oil ring gap = .004 x 2.441" = .009764 = .010" ten thou
here's a good article to read from Wiseco regarding piston ring gaps and why
