hi pete,

thanks for the upgrade details.
i have tested my original coils to a measurement of 2 ohms....
the manual says 1.5 to 1.9 ohms....so i guess thats why im not getting a good spark.
so with this in mind, i guess im up for an upgrade such as yours....
the ballast resistor you mention above, is this also known as part number 28018-1014 RESISTOR,IGNITION,COIL or is it the IGNITER part number 21119-1005? is there a picture of it in cyberspace somewhere so that i can eyeball it....im not familiar with these bikes so any type of research before i start is good....thanks again

It's white ceramic and has 3 pink wires and 1 yellow i think left side of the frame in the coil vicinity.

yeah got it.....
looking at coils now.
nology profire and accel have them for about $400 delivered new....
the most obvious option is the honda cb900 coils, not only because they are substantially cheaper but also because every write up suggests they are just as good....my only problem there being second hand, would be paying $150 for them delivered and finding out they are on their way out....hmmmm......decisions....

Aw82 coils bolt straight in no messing about trying to fit them .And when you buy them you normally have to buy two pair so you will always have a spare lol.
