I haven't forgotten about you. So far, I haven't found replacements for the Darlington transistors. I have 3 more inquiries out as of this afternoon.

A note about Darlington transistors to keep your brain spinning.

They have six pins, not five, one of them is not connected to anything (I mark it with an orange arrow).

In total, I put out 8 inquiries to the local suppliers that sell electronic components and all of them have come up empty handed for a direct replacement. There are a number of power transistors that would do the job and all of them require a heat sink of some sort. The case of the stock igniter would not be easy to work with because of the cavities. So that leaves either a Carmo igniter or a self manufactured unit using 3 igniters from different ignition systems     ( See topic on "Alternate Ignitions")
Looking forward to hearing your resolve here.

I went to look for my Ignitor unit and they confirmed that there is a fried transistor.

It starts well when cold but stops working after a while when it warms up.

I opened the fucking transistor like it was a can of canned tuna and this is what the inside looks like.


I marked the different pins of the transistor with colored arrows.

Green: Output to the ignition coil.
Black: ground.
Red: constant 12V power.
Blue: coming from the pickup.
Purple: Coming from the pickup.
Yellow: Nothing, free connection pin.


Now I am in doubt whether to buy a new CDI from Carmoelectronics or spend half the money on a used one that works and with a warranty from a French distributor.

Thank you for opening up the component and giving us a look at the internals. Now it makes perfect sense. The Igniter unit is more like 3 separate igniters in a single housing.

 
This is the Huco 13-8001 igniter internals (borrowed from another topic- Alternate Ignition System that Daro built . Note that there are also 6 wires attached to the igniter much like the Kawasaki stock igniter.

Cables must be attached as follows to the pin numbers on the Huco Igniter

1 – To the - terminal of  ignition coil (Black 1-6, Green 2-5, Black 3-4) 
2 – None (Ground internally connected to with pin 3)
3 – Ground Black wire System ground (battery)
4 – Voltage supply Yellow wire 12 V
5 – To Pulse coil
6 - To Pulse coil
7 - N.A.

Does this prove that the Kawasaki 'Darlington' were special built?

..and my .02 of 1/2 cost for used vs more expensive new Carmo?

Used may have warranty, but that won't get you home when the 40+ year old OEM leaves you stranded.
