After dinner I was left alone in the kitchen and I armed myself with a cutter and the two sharpest knives I have at home, the potato peeling knife and the Iberian ham cutting knife.
I began an arduous task of scratching and biting the rubber that protects the IC Ignitor.
It is better to start from the opposite side to the cable entry, little by little my work gave its result.
This is the final result after three hours of careful work and almost slicing my finger a couple of times with the knife.
The green wire that powers the failed coil has loose and somewhat sulfurous solder.
The next step will be to look for these parts at an electronic components store and solder new wiring.
We will see what the final cost will be, I trust it will be much less than what they asked me for the repair or replacement.

Well, look at you go !! Not afraid to dig in there. Good for you. Just remember when you go shopping at the electronics store, it is a Darlington transistor and if you can upgrade it to carry just a little more power than the spec for the 162, it would be a good insurance thing. Take all 3 transistors with you so they can determine if they are NPN or PNP transistors.
Looking forward to hearing about your shopping experience. Most of the power transistors in that range would be about $15 USD. each.

Now that you can see what the "guts" of the A1 A2 A3 B2 igniters look like, you can understand how Argonmarine went to using 3 of the GM HEI ignition igniters and just mounted them to an aluminum board for a heat sink. Also knowing that the primary windings of a GM HEI coil are typically around 1 Ohm, the GM HEI igniter is more than capable of handling the power requirements of a ignition coil with higher resistance.

I have a couple of inquiries out with local suppliers to try and determine what the replacement should be and I'll post whatever I find (or not)
I've asked for a 10 amp or preferably a 15 amp replacement
The dimensions of the transistor would help.
Length,
Height,
Diameter of the can,
Distance center to center of the 2 holes.
Please provide KawaBCN

Width 35mm.
Distance between holes 44mm.
Circumference diameter 30 mm.
Total thickness 13mm.
Circumference thickness 9mm.
Cabling:
Positive +.
Negative -.
Input from the pick-up rotor.
Output to the coil.
