You two guys better check and see if you have Harley Davidson blood flowing through your veins,. All this polishing and chroming !!! Geeeez.

Stan, I had often thought of converting the wash sink I have in the shop which is just one of those cheap plastic laundry tubes over to a cabinet style sink with a stainless steel kitchen sink and installing the ultrasonic transducers to the outside of the sink basin. Then i could have a wash sink for everyday complete with hot and cold running water and a drain, then put in the stopper and fill the sink and turn on the ultrasonic transducers when I needed to clean parts. Being able to fill and drain the ultrasonic cleaner without having drain buckets and hoses etc. and a dual purpose tool would be the goal.

Would appreciate the suppliers name for the transducers, control board and power supply if you have them handy.

StanG - I've really enjoyed following your work ! If I sit down with my Java first thing in the morning and there's nothing current from you (or Rocket-Man Kawboy), I'm disappointed !
Regarding the By-pass tube. Over the years this part has taken a beating. Needed to do some serious "dressing" before it could be polished. Had to drop the header again to do this so I blame you entirely !
Regarding "Flow" and smooth surfaces: Airplane propeller blades are checked before each flight as part of the "pre-flight inspection". Nicks in the leading edge are looked for but any debris such as bug-guts can deteriorate efficiency. A Hot day and a maxed-out Gross-weight dictates the prop and wing leading-edges are clean (and smooth) Before the first flight of each day in my glider, it was always washed and dried to remove bug-guts from the previous flight and the overnight accumulation of dust and bird-poop ! If not, performance was dramatically reduced and this could be very detrimental when you have to fight for every foot of altitude on a less then stellar day.
So; polishing the water-pump impeller and the inlet port can only improve flow performance - albeit at a more of the Academic level. Just as "Porting and Polishing" a cyl.-head increases intake and exhaust flow performance.

Can't speak for StanG but I have never had a blood transfusion form anyone in the Harely Davidison family-tree!
I prefer to think of this as utilizing my time more efficiently while I wait for parts - in this case 12 new dome-nuts for the headers. I hope I get them in the next day or two because I'm running out of things to polish!

LOL Kawboy. The bike has been sitting for many years. Pretty much everything has to be cleaned and refurbished.
Except that little piece of housing coming to the radiator, everything I chrome plated has been chromed oryginally.
I am simply trying to make the bike look like it was when new. Those internal parts came shiny from the factory, why not give them some of it back? There is also one practical reason to doing this. It gives me a chance to inspect all the parts. Definitely not HD related.

Scotch, haha, unlike checking my emails first thing in the morning, these days I hop on this forum to check what's new! I am glad I could motivate you to go where probably no one has gone before. LOL Except me maybe, haha But like I said above, it's giving the bike it's original cleanliness and inspecting parts. Of course it helps with the look as well. I spent years living in Japan and had learnt a lot about their culture, arts and craftsmanship. It was a common knowledge that professionals building something would pay equal attention to the look outside as well as inside. A back of a wooden cabinet for example. The drawers back or the underside of a table would be beautifully crafted with attention to the detail. It was the same in case of old British or American furniture. I think it is still being done when hand crafting unique expensive pieces. The smallest details make sometimes the biggest difference. Sometimes I feel a bit silly with this polishing, but it's not that I am sacrificing anything else to do that. I can't do anything else waiting for parts and fixes, why not polish in the meantime! I see you have the same strategy! :)

Regarding the impeller, I was just joking of course speaking of the micro ears working hard to push extra water through, haha. Did you fly gliders? I am still thinking about having a mini plane lot one day. More like an engine with wing. But I am scared of skydiving.. I don't think I could do that..

THESE people are good to look at to see what variety ultrasonic cleaners come in
It's also good to check alibaba.com or aliexpress.com for pretty much anything.
