1982 KZ1300 rescue and rebuild

So... One of the side covers I scooped off flea-bay is I believe ebony in color.
I need to paint the rest the same color. Does anyone know the exact color code for this?

I've read the form - no lead there. Please don't suggest researching.

Need a real life deal - what paint for these in the unreal life?

I don't know if that link will help you, Stan. It shows Kawasaki Ebony as code H8 2029. But I think any good automative paint mixer should be able to mix you the correct shade, given the make, model, and year.

By the way, I wonder if that company - Japarts - might be worth a try for some of the hard to find parts?

That ebony H8 2029 seems like it might be it. I will go to an automotive paint shop and will bring that side cover with me and see what they say.

DAMN! I was hoping for the table to show the exact number instead of '10k', observing this as a new hobby, haha Happy to reach that views number!

Accomplished a couple things today.

One - adjusted the latch for the seat. Now it engages, it's an easy fix. Undue the two bolts, remove it, adjust the two nuts on both sides of the little bracket, bring it out, install. Now it locks in place and I have a solid seat A small victory, only known to those who had to search for a missing seat and figure out where what goes.



Another small progress. I totally forgot one of the bolts mounting a muffler guard next to the collector broke off. I installed all the pipes and forgot about it!!! No way I wanted to remove all the pipes and the muffler again... So, I used a flex extension - not enough clearance between this and the ground to use a drill. Drilled it out, and got stuck - those extractors pictured in the photo don't work well one small with a little tolerance extractions. So, I wiggled the drill bit around to remove more material, and when enough taken out, I used a sharply ended thread cutting tap to chase the existing thread. The space is limited, so I ground another tap's top flat so it could go deeper cutting adequate diameter thread deeper. All good and done!
Mounted the exhaust guards on the right side - both sides finished!
