1982 KZ1300 rescue and rebuild

The front forks take very low pressure , 7 - 10lbs and very small volume. So to get it right is somewhat difficult. Many years ago I bought a pump from Motion Pro or some such place which was made specifically for this job- putting low pressure and volume into the fork and then being able to release the pump without losing that very small volume. That is the tricky part if you don't have the correct pump. Or don't use any air pressure at all.

I am thinking about just going for a slow stroll to a bike shop to have it set properly after having it on wheels. I know on Vmax installing progressive springs doesn't require any air, but I am keeping these stock. Estimating the oil volume shouldn't be a problem - just measuring what comes out and referring to the manual. And the rear shocks are sealed for most of the audience, and I will be staying there for now. I've seen somewhere a write up about rebuilding them, and one day if I am bored enough I might give it a shot. Depending on equipment required.

That broken bolt is just for the handlebar bracket. Nevertheless frustrating. Drilling and so on on top of the bike! Will definitely do some good masking.

Damn, the 'clamp bolts' used to many times and I think the reference got lost in translation. I think this was too much torque. Except crucial connections (engine core), I think I have been quite comfortable applying force by feeling, and I will go back to it falling back on experience.
