1982 KZ1300 rescue and rebuild

Another day today. It's good to get away from this project for sanity.

The way to replace the rear shock oil (if you have access to a lathe) I fixed the bottom end of the shock to the lathe jaws and then turned the oil/air opening pointing downwards. Placed a collector cup underneath and then slowly compressed the shock with the sledge of the lathe. At fully compressed position I turned the opening up, fitted a tube to the opening and fed new oil with a syringe when moving the sledge back.

Very interesting Lauri. I don't have a lathe, but I will keep it in mind and perhaps this could be similarly done using a small hydraulic jack with a set up from pieces of 2x4 wood and some plywood.

I have the harness sorted out, just need to start connecting pieces. Thank you for your help!
I think I need to get away from the bike for a couple days to clear my head. I'll be back soon and I think another 2 - 3 weeks and the bike should be running.

It'll be nice to see those mounted, Stan. Are you going to fully assemble the bike before returning it to ground level? I just wondered how you are going to get it in the lift at your apartment.

Look around at bicycle shops (or online) for a 'zero loss' low pressure bicycle fork pump. Mountain Equipment Co-op used to sell a nice one but the last time I checked (a few years ago) all they had were the higher pressure types (that was a few years ago)
