Hey all,
So as this build comes to an end I have one last electrical gremlin. Getting the oil pressure/level system to work with the aftermarket gauge cluster I'm using.
The oil light wouldn't go away after the bike was started, but I'm reasonably confident that the issue is the sensor not the oil pump.
A) where is a good place to put a pressure gauge to check the oil pressure?
B) where is the pressure switch? From what I understand from studying the parts breakdown,
27010-1038 is the level switch that is inside the oil pan. It attaches to 59221-1002. Is that the pressure switch or is that just a conduit for the level signal to exit the case?
Thanks
Isaac

Check out this thread.

kz1300.com/index.php/forum/engines/2705-...pressure-check#19940

Scotch did a nice job of fitting an oil pressure gauge as a permanent modification.
The oil pressure switch is located just below the clutch cover. You can insert a tee and mount the oil pressure switch and oil pressure gauge to the tee.

Also note- I used the "search engine" for this site and had it search "oil pressure gauge" and found this thread and a few others. It's a great tool for finding info.
Cheers,

If I'm not mistaken - and I very often am - I don't think the ZN1300 has a oil pressure sender - there is only an oil level switch.

It's a common affliction for those models fitted with the level switch; when I last had the sump off some years ago someone on another group suggested cleaning the level sensor that's situated there, I did that but it still brings on the oil warning light when starting from cold. Once warmed up you can turn the ignition off & restart the engine & it should extinguish the light, it's just something I've learned to live with. I guess you could disconnect the level warning but I've never got round to it.

I'm confused: Fiche lists 27010-1038 as " SWITCH,OIL LEVEL" - is that supposed to be 'pressure level' or 'oil level'. If it's Oil pressure then I can't find a level switch. To confuse things, the ZN1300 wiring diagram show only an oil level switch:

..while the 82 KZ1300 has this extra piece, 25025-1003 (in addition to 27010-1038), listed as a "WARNER,OIL LEVEL" and which is not shown on the ZN1300 fiche. I can't find an A4 wiring diagram so not sure what it connects to.

Maybe 27010-1038 is both a level switch and a pressure switch? Or maybe it's the pressure switch and the ZN1300 doesn't have a level switch - seems weird that the KZ would have one but the ZN wouldn't.
