I originally had the GM coil-pac in my tray which is why I had some extra holes (that got taped) Now with the coil-pac over the cam-cover and with the custom intake system, I can't fit the tray but can get the tool-pouch sitting nicely on top of the battery.

I found another photo.



The holes in mine, yours, and this one are identical. They would have to be done by the same guy installing the same coils, and I bet they weren't. Looking at them it also shows that they are a part of the mold design rather than hand made. Maybe you forgot that you utilized the existing holes and plugged them after deciding not to use them?

The photos of the 11012-1062 tool tray are scarce indeed, pretty much none! But definitely they came with these holes at least for some of the bikes. Perhaps a similar story to your new polished cam cover? I just can't come to another conclusion looking at them and considering they came from different bikes. Mine came from the UK. Not sure exactly what model, but I will ask.

Did the California version of the bike come with some additional EGR plumbing? The CA models often came with a extra canister (charcoal, I think) that normal models did not have. If so, an extra canister might have been in the tool tray (that's the way it is on Vulcan 1500 CA models)

Just took a close up of those extra holes (not all). That is factory made and it's a fact, and I'd bet my life on it.
So, why are they there.....

Got all the coils and resistors connected. All the harnesses were done again.

If Neville reads this, just wondering exactly how you changed the profile of the resistors bracket. I am going to see the distance, but with a much less heat generated comparing to the original resistors block, I think even with a bit less clearance there should be no problem.

One thing though - these terminals are exposed. I am thinking about covering them to prevent any possible shorts. Did you address that s well? I am still not decided on how. Anyone a suggestion?

Anyway, except for the fuel level sensor, the bike is all wired for firing :)





Oh yeah, don't mind the displaced throttle cables. They know their place - just waiting for the carburetor. Next thing carburetor bench fun.
And the clutch cable will either stay there with a couple ties, or will be moved outside. I actually have seen done it both ways.
ANd another one - my third edit, haha. The radiator overflow hose will be put in place as well when putting all together.

Well done for tracking down a tool tray Stan.
My bike cam with one of those, but no battery-retaining bracket.
Have you seen any of those in your worldwide searches?
1979 KZ1300 A1
1999 K1200LT - now sold, I like them however was nearly as big as my X5 but no faster.
