Fuel and Temperature Gauge
the new speedometer gauge I'm using have the option to show fuel level and temperature
I'm trying to use the original Voyager fuel level sender and the water temperature sensor to work with the after market speedometer
when I connect the water temperature gauge it is going to the red quick after the bike is on for few min
to mention, the water temperature sensor is new.
the fuel gauge is not working at all, I am not sure if the issue is the fuel level sender or the speedometer
anyone have an idea how to adopt the original water temperature sensor to work with the new gauge, I'm thinking I need to add a resistor ??
for the fuel level sender, how I can test it first to make sure its working
I am also thinking adding external temperature and fuel gauge if they will not work as part of the speedometer, any suggestion ?
Thank You
Eran

Looking in the ZN1300 service manual for the fuel tank sending unit- it refers back to the KZ1300 manual pages 261&262 for testing. The fuel tank sending unit test is
Also note that the fuel level indicator and the water temp indicator are powered by a limited / regulated voltage circuit and the test for that voltage regulator is looking for "about 7 volts"

Surely the set-up instructions for your new instruments will explain how to calibrate the temperature and fuel gauges to match the senders on the bike?

Thank you guys,
I do not have the original instruments and I do not think the regulator will help me as the new gauges powered from one 12v source
I was able to find the instructions for the gauges, it is translated from Chinese to English so they are not so clear but I will try to make it work.
did anyone use external temperature gauge that read from the original temperature sensor or other reliable solution
same for fuel gauge that use the original or aftermarket sender
Thank you
Eran

Contact Tr-Starr in Seneca Falls, NY. He will probably be able to convert your existing fuel level sensor to a 'standard' resistance. The Kawasaki uses some off the wall non standard resistance that I do not think anyone else uses. he is not cheap, but probably less expensive then a tow if you run out of gas.
For the temperature sensor, you might want to remove the sensor that turns the fan on and off and put a standard sensor in the same hole and just put a manual switch to turn the fan on if you see the temp creeping up.
