From 1984 Voyager to a street fighter

For cleaning badly rusted tanks I have used small fish tank gravel and some diesel , kerosene or similar. Put it in shake it around , empty and flush. It will remove the rust scale and debris that would otherwise have fallen off in the longer term in normal use. A good step 1 clean before any chemical process.

Don't put the gravel back in the fish tank. :S :S :S

I also change the fuel filter to a much bigger one and its sty the same, I will work on the bike again in the weekend and see how its running without fuel filter at all, maybe this is my issue.
I didn't check for any faults on the DFI box, but that's a good idea, I'll do that as well.
for now I cannot fine Air filters, I may add the half top original box and see if there is any different.

I used the metal rescue, it gave the gas tank a good clean.
the gas tank look good but I probably have lots of loose rust sitting on the bottom
I will try to clean with baking soda and vinegar and give it a good wash then seal it

clean the gas tank with baking soda and vinegar
defiantly help but the tank always stay a bit rusty
after done washing with water I cleaned it with paint thinner and carburetor cleaner
then dry with heat gun really good
I used the POR 15 sealer and it looking good so far
I will wait cupule more days till it completely dry and use it again with gas

After one year in the making, Bike is almost ready
the bike starts and ride good
found the fuel petcock leaking 
also going to change the red break lines to black
new clutch cable should be in this week
hope by next week to get all ready and go do the new seat

 










 

Some interesting stuff going on there Mister. Not my style, but I can appreciate what you've done.
Are you sure you have enough brakes on the rear????
I would be soooo tempted to paint that overflow tank blue and label it........
