I am not too sure about a case I think I need a brewery.

One step forward and all that.
Started it today and guess what - cylinders 1 and six perfect, nice light brown plugs (only set the pilots at 1 3/4 turns) cylinders 3 and 4 a little black, cylinders 2 and 5 black and sooty.
I found that I was getting an intermittent spark on 2 and 5, I swopped the leads over to make sure that the coils were ok and it sparked ok. Tested the pick up and it looks as if the pick up is faulty. Does anyone know if Dyna sell the pick ups separately or will they only sell the complete kit - are there any other pick ups that could be fitted and used with the Dyna system?
Life goes on eh.

Sounds like you're making some progress although I'm at a loss as to why/how your idle-air for #1 & #6 can be working at only 1 3/4 turns. I suspect that #3 & #4 are doing all the work until you replace the bad pick-up and then things will be a bit-out-of-whack until you get a final sync and the idle screws set accordingly. Keep us in the loop as you progress. Sounds like you finally progressing !

I had to replace one pick-up many years ago. Went to a bike salvage yard and got a pair out of a different model Kawi, cheap. I simply matched them by appearance and it's been working fine ever since. Kept ( keeping) the second as a spare, just in case.

Glad to hear you're making progress, even if it's one step ahead. Progress is progress.

Just a thought you may want to consider. I picked up a Gunson colortune plug kit on Ebay. Came in 3 weeks from the UK. I never had cause to use something like this since 98% of the carbs I had to set up were single carbs on one engine. but now I have six carbs on one engine (and I know someone is going to say there's only 3 ) but in reality there's 6 sharing 3 carb bowls. When you use the colortune, you can see what's going on in the combustion chamber and adjust each air bleed to meet peek performance. Now I'm not sure if you can rev it up to look at the mixture burn at mid throttle, but I plan to check into that aspect. Just being able to set the air bleeds was enough for me to invest in the $70.00 tool.

Here's a link to the site and a Youtube video on how it works.

The Gunson tool looks the business, I have ordered one and cannot wait to use it.
Struggling to find a trigger for the Dynatek though. Spoke to Dynatek and they did not even know that they supplied a kit for the KZ1300.
We are not blessed with thousands of breakers yards in the UK but I have found a second hand unit off A gsxr 1100 that looks similar in the states. I can buy a complete Dyna S set up for $150 (Suzuki gs1000) but I am unsure if the triggers would be the same, anyone got any ideas.

The complete Dyna ignition kits for these bikes haven't been available for a number of years.
The trigger unit - this link may help- not sure what the box is for- if it is a replacement for the ignitor, I'm not sure- maybe someone in Germany could phone and ask them

The Gunson tool is great- you should buy at least 2 spark plugs - it's a long hot process otherwise.
And having 6 plugs so as to do all six cylinders at one time would be the ultimate. And maybe buy their carb balancing tool at the same time.

1 step forward, 3 million steps back huh.
Put the replacement trigger on today and now I do not get any spark on 2 and 5 at all.
Trigger 2 - 5 has a reading of + 38 m ohms difference to the others. The others read 512 m ohms, this one 550 surely that would not cause it to not spark - I will swop the cables over tomorrow to see if it will work off one of the others, maybe the ignition unit is faulty.
The link that shows the Elektronik ignition system from Germany does any one know if my 3ohm coils will be ok with it.
Getting desperate now, when I started this bike I had a full head of hair, I now have grey sides and a baldy shiny top.
