Today I filtered the oil I had drained from the engine crankcase after riding a whopping 15 km.

The filter was filled with silver flakes and black silicone gasket residue.

If I had found a couple of coins it would be like cleaning the washing machine filter.

It is clear that I have to disassemble the engine again, some moving part has friction with the alloy crankcase, it scares me to imagine how shitty the oil pump filter screen will be.

The next two weeks I will be on vacation, I need to disconnect from routine and work.

When I come back I will temporarily park the six and I will dedicate myself to another motoproject I have in mind.

In September it will be a year since I met Christine, it's funny, never has a motorcycle given me so many experiences without giving me a single scare while riding on the road.

Are you sure it's black silicone gasket sealer and not black rubber nitrile from possibly the tension roller on the cam chain tensioner?. that would make perfect sense after hearing the Youtube video.

Hello again.
I'm back from my vacations, one week enjoying the beaches of the beautiful island of Menorca, eating and sleeping has been my main activity, what more could you need...?
And another week riding my motorcycle through the Pyrenees Mountains along the border between Spain and France....

The good things are over, I'm back to the fucking work and daily routine.
Christine is still stranded in the garage covered with a cover, I still don't want to continue her repair, maybe later I'll get more motivation and I'll break my horns again trying to bring this fucking bike up to date.
I'm in a wassap group of Z1300 owners in Spain, we are only 5 at the moment, a new member of the group has passed me photos of Christine years ago, from her second owner, the bike was blue and at that time it didn't look good.

We all feel your pain. Many have been in the exact same place you are right now feeling like the bike has got the best of you. Some jumped the ship and sold the problem at a great loss but many of us have buckled down and just kept at it. Think of it as a project rather than a bike for every day riding until you finally get it sorted out. In the end, you will have stories to tell.

I bought a Porsche928 basket case and getting it back to running just about turned me into an alcoholic and in the end I won. It made a better man out of me in more ways than just enhancing my mechanical abilities. The trick I think is not expecting the bike to be a quick fix. From what I've noticed on this site, many bikes have been bought with more problems than the previous owner could handle, hence the bike got sold. Some guys thought they were buying a "gem" and then found out it was a POS (piece of shit)

Be patient and when it starts to get to you, walk away, cool off, and when you get settled, even if it's weeks later have another  go at it. That's the best lesson I've learned.
