If you remember from early photos, there were squirrels living in the air box at some point before I got the bike. I guess the ate all the nuts!!!
Or, like you said, the were just done and removed when steeling my tool tray from my bike!! haha

Well... while waiting for some parts I already started dismantling my bike for transport. I pretty much have the plan how to go about already.

The radiator, fan, the exhaust system are off the bike. The oil pan will stay on. The wheels are still on as I have to construct the transportation frame and support in such a way that it will be easy to put them back on after the move.

The frame will consist of L shaped and flat steel, and wood. The steel will be connected with bolts, and bolted itself to the frame of the bike - the main attachment point will be the two brackets in front of the frame - those where in other models fairing gets attached. They will not support the whole weight, as the bike will be sitting on wood. These are mainly to keep the whole 'cage' sturdy.

The pictures will come when it's made, nothing to see yet!

Dissembling the bike again. How many people can REALLY relate to this? JUst don't mention the 'academic reason', for whatever reason. Silence is golden.

Change of plans - I will be changing this bike into a trike!

I think the easiest way will be to create a bracket with two swivel caster wheels and bolt it to the front of the frame. The rear - I need to take some measurements to double check it, but the rear wheel doesn't go much out from the frame so I am hoping I can keep it on and steer the whole trike around the corners and into the tight elevator.

Now.....I'm not questioning your ability to measure an elevator or your bike for that matter but.....exactly how big (small) is this elevator you're referring too ?
1) "Obtain" a suitable length of "Port of Vancouver Mooring Line" and secure to rear wheel.
2) Set up video camera.
3) Send elevator to the floor above you.
4) TURN OFF elevator !!!!!!!
5) Wrap the whole bike in shipping-blankets.
6) Invite 4 friends (minimum individual weight not less then 200lbs) over for beer and Pizza.
7) Turn on video camera.
8) The 5 of you should be able to easily lower bike to bottom of shaft.
9) Eat pizza - drink beer and enjoy video!

Your welcome :woohoo:

Supplement: Princess Auto has some inexpensive dolly's ( The wheeled type ) that would take the weight. And they're usually cheap ! (Trying hard to keep this serious  Probably le$$ then making something? I'd remove both wheels and the tail-piece. A lot shorter and lighter and no risk to the plastic !

Supplemental supplement: Princess auto has a sale starting on Tuesday June 12 - Look at page 34 in there flyer.

I have a dolly (used it to bring the bike in), the problem is the oil pan is sticking out way beyond the frame, and the center stand is as well. Before, with the center stand off, it was ok to maneuver the frame because it was relatively light (only frame and crank case). Now, with the engine complete plus all the other pieces, including the rear differential, it's probably about 450 pounds and the dolly is 700 rated so no problem there considering weight. I still need to place the dolly underneath the bike, meaning I need to lift it. One person doing it is quite tricky considering keeping the balance - one slip and if the bike starts to slide there would be no way stopping it! This is really a not one man's job, but rather four guys as you pointed it out. I also need to plan ahead how to quickly put the bike back on wheels after the move, which means putting it on the center stand again. The last time, bringing it in, even with the strapping the bike moved, but being 'lightweight' I was able to correct it. This time it wouldn't be easy or perhaps possible at all, so the bike, the dolly or whatever means of transportation, have to be like a one solid unit.

Hey scotch, you never visit or pass by Vancouver? Two strong guys like me and you could just pick it up and have it out of here in no time! haha
