And then there's Scotch's story about bugs that laid eggs in the vent tube running through the tank and how he cleared the vent tube. That port hole in the filler neck is one end of the tube running through the tank and out to the vent fitting that the vent hose attaches to. Fill it with larvae eggs and see how well it vents !!

Lol I actually mud daubers build a nest in a vent tube for my K100... Learned that lesson the hard way.

I did check that the vent tube on the tank was clear when I had the tank off.

Bugs are determined ! Once, had a really bad year of mud wasps at the DZ. Jump-plane pilot had to "bag" the Pitot tube if we weren't hot-loading because the little bustards ( The mud-wasps - not the jumpers) would plug up this critical component, in minutes !
Bike carbs, air filter boxes and little ports are all ideal for critters with many legs.

back to the point: I had the gas-cap nipple crush the grommet once. got a few miles down the road and was off to the side - dead. Oening the cap and hearing the inward rush of air pointed to the problem.

Gonna get it plated and a fresh set of tires put on tomorrow. There's a VJMC swap meet/show down in SC, about a 2.5 hour ride, this Saturday. Gonna try and make that it's maiden voyage.

I’m sure you’ll have a trouble-free ride. The bike will certainly attract attention at the meeting. Some more photos of your bike, and anything else interesting that you see when there, would be most welcome.

The weather here in Bobcaygeon Ontario for the next week is going to be UGLY !!. We've had a real dump of snow this year and now headed in to +10 Celcius for a week. The flooding around here will be something else. The wife said we should hook up the fifth wheel and skedaddle to Myrtle Beach for a week. Had I known about the VJMC meet I'd have had an excuse to dig the fifth out of the ice. Sorry to say it's buried in a foot of ice until the thaw.

Have a safe trip. Looking forward to some pics !!
