What paint did you end up using and did you laquer them?

I used Rust-Oleum gloss black on wheels and flat on rotors. It's a general use paint for outdoors and indoors, to paint things like benches, and says it's good for wood, metal and plastics. I first used the one that says it's two in one paint and primer, than one that is just paint. I found that it takes a week to have it real hard and durable. I painted center stand with these and I think I will use them for the frame. If a paint is good for an outdoor bench, it can't be less effective on a frame. I decided not to use a clear lacquer on the aluminum parts. I will be polishing them once in a while and I used an aircraft rust protecting oil at the end.

Yeah Bucko, the forum system has been signing me out constantly despite checking the 'keep me logged in' box. I have to sign in multiple times a day if I come back. I wrote a post and when I pressed the 'post' button it took me to a page asking to sign in. My writing got lost in the process. Usually I write first in notepad then copy and paste.

Stan, are you quite sure you will be happy just painting the frame, rather than a full strip down and powder coating? You seem to be doing such a thorough job on all the rest of the machine.

Also, did you manage in the end to get the swing arm pivots removed from the bike?

And the cylinder liners - can you not use any from the spare block?

I haven't touched the frame and crank case again. Haven't been successful with removing the swing arm and disconnecting the shaft.
I am going to transport the whole thing home soon and will go back to working on it. When the time comes, I will think again about painting the frame or powder coating. For sure, powder coating would be better, but I am quite confident the frame will be well preserved when done right painting it. I mean, you paint tank and fenders and they stay fine. Frame should as well. Will see..

I am waiting for PJ1 cans for the engine. Also, they have gloss cans for general painting and I've read they are strong and don't chip. I am thinking about using those.

I have 4 cylinder blocks now. Two in great shape except each need one cylinder sleeve. I might look for yet another one to salvage those sleeves and have those two perfectly done. But I managed to remove the old failed paint from the one cylinder block I got ready for installation and now I am just waiting for that PJ1 paint to arrive. That's the one I am most likely going to install.
It is tempting though to use the A2 model block. It's different from A4, but I bought the casing in which normally the pick up goes, and having it empty I'd just keep it as a spare compartment to carry tools or whatever. It's perfect outside and doesn't need any painting, but it would have to stay silver. I'll see which way I go when I get closer to this point, which will be after the frame is done.

Another sub-component checked off the list. It took six (yes, 6) different parts sources and three major steps to complete it: bead blasting, painting, and polishing.
I am quite happy with the results
