Fuel Tank

Yep. Even the Airtech Streamlining website suggests getting the tank epoxy-coated if it's going to have gas in it that may contain ethanol. It "can" be used on the road, but it would be foolish to do so without knowing the risk involved.

On a positive note: From some of the reviews I've seen, the tank lining holds up pretty well if done right. Same process as using tank liner on our metal tanks just different shell involved. Also, the peanut tanks on our bikes are already kind of shorter than the width of the motor. With an even shorter tank width, just dropping it wouldn't put it at much risk unless there was speed and flipping involved .

I believe and per Airtech's website:

They offer a tank lining service for Street Applications. They can do it at the factory or the purchaser can do it.

Seems like a reasonable cost for a messy time consuming job.

Has anyone had or know anyone who has had any experience with the plastic fuel tanks on  www.z1300.de/  ?

The site says that they’re not approved for use on public roads… 
 

The problem with plastic tanks is that in a crash, they will split and leak fuel all over so completely unsafe. Bad enough you may get hurt in a crash nevermind getting burned to death as well. I'm not even sure if they would pass a safety inspection for race track use.
