This is a screenshot from your CMSNL site showing the deep sump with the part# and if you notice the trail line of the look up was for the 1979 model year.
Parts Manuals- Identify what part was used depending on year and in the case that there was an update, either a VIN or an engine number cutoff point. Both Partzilla and CMSNL show that up to engine # 01063 the shallow sump was provided and after engine # 016038 the deep sump was provided.
Parts Manuals don't show you where that part can be used . they show you where that part number was used
The truly laughable part is that both sites provide the same disinformation regarding the engine serial #'s It would appear to be a typo duplicated on both sites (01063 016038)
So it's obvious that neither Partzilla, CMSNL nor I know shit from apples, so at this point I'm throwing in the towel. Whenever I quote a source, I always include a link to the source because I'm just the messenger, so if I misinform, you can shoot the source not me. (which in this case is both CMSNL and Partzilla.)

I just had to go and check out this site that " has far better schematics......" and if you use their site and look up the same part for the 1979 it clearly shows the same information I provided as found on Partzilla.
This company in the Netherlands has far better schematics, differentiating between kz 1300 and Z 1300--- ZG 1300 and ZN 1300
www.cmsnl.com/kawasaki-kz1300a4-1982-usa...0/pan-oil_490345005/
So anyone looking for the large oil pan -they even have one -- for 200 Euro.

So -just to conclude then with a summary :
All the info provided here is from the Kawasaki KZ 1300 Motorcycle Service Manual . Published by Kawasaki Heavy Industries.
First manual published Jan 22 / 1979
1980 . First Supplement added
1981 . Second Supplement added
1983. Third Supplement added
The large oil pans are much harder to find - one big reason - more than half of this model sold were 1979 and 1980's. And at least on the North American market , these are the model years that are being parted out. On Ebay . com there are always several oil pans listed, for about $60.00 . Because there is no demand for them.
The Voyager showed up in 1983 with the large oil pan - so searching for ZN 1300 parts may give a result. Then back to about 1981 on the naked bikes.
