So I have to ask Scotch, are you running a stock fuel tank shut off valve or an aftermarket valve, because the stock shut off valve has a filter screen over the pick up tube. I don't like the stock one because if it clogs up, you can't see it unless you empty the tank and remove it.
The other thought that came to mind is the location of the inline filter. Because the filter is a much larger diameter than the fuel line, the flow of the fuel will slow down going through the filter allowing the gas more time to pick up heat for the engine. Where do you plan on locating the filter?

Go back into a previous thread about Fuel line routing. There a pictures there of my fuel-line routing and fuel filter placement. I removed the in-tank filters for the above mentioned reason. I'm still using the stock fuel-valve. I had to "lap" the cone and valve-body due to some scratches in both from some type of debris ( Not Effluent" ) and it shuts off drip free. I have a dual-fuel set-up on the '80's carbs pictured and discussed in previous articles and a single inlet ( right-hand carb for the recent "79 carb rebuild). The modified single fuel inlet is more then adequate of delivering enough fuel. The dual fuel line delivery mod was simply for the balanced appearance of having both sides look the same. In both cases the small steel body fuel filter is more then adequate, readily available and inexpensive. As far as the filter "picking up heat": NO CONCERN or issues the way I've got mine set up. Plus the tank bottom has been insulated. the fact that my fuel line is as short as it can be precludes any concern for me in that regard and frankly there's no shorter or more efficient routing that would eliminate the fuel taking on heat. When running at highway speed I have put my hand under the carb bowls and found them to be ICE cold ! Heat? What heat ! Once the air is out of a filter the fuel will flow through it at the demand rate regardless of its diameter.

An interesting debate. Think of a river flowing into a lake and then flowing into a river. The water will slow down in the lake and then speed up in the river. If there's a heat source at the lake the water will pick up heat.

But as you've stated, you've checked the carb bowls and their cold, so no issue. I'll look at your thread on fuel line routing and get reacquainted.

(I can see that I'll be wearing the "Effluent" title till hell freezes over!!) For the record, while I was working in the nuclear plant we always referred to dirt, debris, radioactive waste etc. as effluent. I guess I just like the word better than "dirt".

Some people refer to upper-class Americans as an effluent society!

No, they're affluent unless they're full of sh..., then they're effluent. LOL
Now I've done it. Well, better I say it first right?
