kawboy - the flow rate is good info.

Here are the pictures I sent to the seller at his request, presumably to validate a refund.

My time is worth more then the cost but: IT's THE PRINCIPLE !

Cheers !

Scotch, excellent pix! And, it does this old geezer good to hear somebody else say "IT's THE PRINCIPLE!" Those chinese will just keep pouring more crap into this country until people will take a stand.

Those parts are made from "white-metal", or, as we used to call it in my younger years, "pot-metal". When they smelt the raw materials for aluminum, there is left a foamy crud floating on top. This is still good stuff, but for purely decorative purposes, and to form it into anything requires lots of pressure. They used to use it to make the hood ornaments in the old days. Smack it with a hammer and it will just crumble. Too bad those chinese are still misusing it to make parts that merely give the appearance of function!

To find similar filters check out any aircraft surplus suppliers in your area. They are used to filter hydraulic fluids and hence, are made to withstand higher pressures, too. That fancy one with the aluminum wrapper is what they will look like. Also try any of the speed equipment suppliers like Jeg's or Speedway Motors. You'll pay more, but you'll also get more.

Chinese manufacturing has come a long way in the last couple of decades, but some of them keep using the old, cheap methods and materials.

I hope you do get the refund, but even so, thanks for taking the chance and actually, effectively, protecting the rest of us by sharing the results!

Ever hear the "story" about the glass filter, cold gas and hot motor, rough ride, broke glass, bike burns ??, couple of guys have told me the tale when I mentioned the glass filter, maybe the "Effluent" didn't stop enough fuel flow and it hit the fan?? :-) :-)
after tuesday even the calendar goes WTF

As suggested, I went to a well known and respected aviation parts site and searched " Aircraft fuel filter". To my shock and surprise I found this as one of the items listed for $22.75 ! The picture is directly from the web-sight.

Same piece 'o shit filter. Most private and all commercially registered Air Craft must be repaired and maintained using certified parts which are traceable. The documentation for every repair and the parts used are noted in the technical journal and are meant to follow that A/C for it's life. And for good reason !
This site sells to the "home-built" and "owner maintained" market where the paper-trail required isn't as stringent. The thought of anyone using this filter in any type of engine powered A/C is Horrifying. I have personally witnessed the crash of an ultra-light and the death of that pilot as a result of inferior/sub-standard parts and will be forwarding my recent experience with this type of filter to the retailer. Motor-cycles or ultra-lights - or any application for that matter of this dangerous part should be prohibited !
So maybe my $10.00 just saved a life or too !

The only impressive part of the filter is the glass. Very thick ! I received an immediate reply from the Aircraft parts seller and the comment was taken seriously. they will look into this issue closer but to date are not aware of any filter being suspect for any incidents. Frankly: I don't see this filter being able to supply sufficient volume any greater then a ROTAX engine.
