Some of the 1300's have carb bowls that have the drain screw and port. Perhaps another member can tell us which models came with them built in.

There are two floats on the same arm, in each carb. They work together to shut off the single needle valve.

Bill

Later edit (10/19/14): Don't know which bike of mine has two floats but it's not the 1300. Sorry! Bill

Page 235 in the K&L catalog, Part number 35-8395, as depicted in your artwork. It states for Yamaha but in the end, it's just a hose with graduated markings.

This straight hose unit would adapt to the A-3 thru A-4 models with those bowls containing nipples.

For A-1 thru A-2, one would need the threaded nipple and hose and I did not see that type in either motion pro or the K&L catalog.

I know when I purchased my threaded nipple type, my Kaw dealership ordered it out of one of those catalogs.

As for the 83 and 84 KZ's one only needs a straight hose and a sharpie to determine fuel level so no real need to buy a special tool.

But to back to my earlier post, check with your local dealer and they should be able to find the correct size for the first year carbs that take threaded bowl drains.

Hello All,
thank you for your help but I am now at the end of my tether.
The good news is the carbs do not flood any more - a big thanks to you all.
I have re-built the carbs with new re-build kits but it will still not run on tick-over, it needs to be revved and the throttle held just on.
I have tried the pilot screws at 1/2 a turn settings from zero all the way to 5 full turns out, still no joy, I have tried the main jet at the bottom clip and the middle clip, still no joy.
The carbs have been in the ultrasonic tank more times then I have been in the bath, still no joy.
The engine has only done 13000 miles, its had a new cam chain, new idler gear, tensioners, the list is endless.
It could be time for someone else to own the bike.
Where do I go from here?

Hi SP,

I'm sure that you've adjusted the idle stop between the carbs. What is the lowest rpm that you can get it to maintain?
