You describe the thing that happens if you have an air leak and its lean at closed throttle.

I agree with Rick about the vacuum leak.

If it does turn out that the idle screws want to be opened further and they're already at 4 1/2 turns The solution is raising the needles.

Been there, played that game, learned my lesson.

Thanks for the replies fellas.

So, regarding the air leak.... this is what I thought as well. When it was hot and idling high, I sprayed some WD40 around the intake boots figuring the idle would jump... nothing. So I got really brave and gently sprayed some ether into the same space and nothing happened. Is there another place where I should be looking for a leak?

The fellow who has been helping me with this suggests that while adjusting the needles can help, he says that the primary problem exists with the pilot jets. He seems to think that adjusting the needles may cause me other problems at other throttle positions which currently is working great other than the slow drop off once it heats up... which is leaness at the pilots. He says these types of carbs can be prone to this issue and Mikuni recommends bigger pilots as the solution.

My plugs are now showing a brownish to tan color on the electrodes.

Also, I live at sea level. Will this have an effect on how I deal with this and make adjustments?

Couple of videos. Once at idle, just started. One under hard acceleration but still not hot. This is before the idle takes off too high. I will record and post a video with the idle racing and the throttle hanging.

don't know if you did any adjusting of the throttle cables however I had an issue where I had miss adjusted the cables and it would hang up for a bit.

Triple checked the cable adjustment and routing. Triple checked for air leaks at the manifold.

Throttle only hangs and idle only climbs when hot. It gets worse the hotter it gets. Last night I rode it for quite a while and it was very minor. However, the ambient temperature was only 15C. A higher ambient temperature makes it happen faster.

I didn't get a chance to ride it today and it looks like several days of rain and cooler temps are in the forecast.
