Sorry for the late response but I’m in Spain at the moment so only just managed to get access to the forum.

I'd just like to say that the bike is now finally on the road and I've managed to put about 100 miles on it in the last few days. The main reason for the delay in getting the bike on the road has been good old DVLA. The bike is an American import and I followed the advice given by the VJMC on how to apply for the first registration here in the UK. As the bike didn't come with the original title deed a dating certificate from the VJMC was required. Would the DVLA accept it, No. They insisted that it had to come from Kawasaki even though the VJMC are approved by the DVLA to supply dating certificates. Then they wanted proof of import even though they had the NOVA registration.

Then I had to supply a letter from the original importer to prove it had been imported into the UK. I wont bore you with the rest of the issues but it all came down to different people at the DVLA having different opinions as to what was acceptable. I eventually got my registration after 6 weeks.

Having never ridden a 1300 before I must say the bike is a dream to ride for such an old bike and I simply love it except for the annoying misfire and hesitation between 1500 and 3500 rpm. However, I'll bring this issue up in a different post.

I would just like to say thanks to every one who has given advice and the informative information people have posted while I have been putting the bike back together.

I am not that far behind, so I should join your club of first time KZ1300 riders. Really enjoyed to read how much you like riding it!
Just carburetor float level adjustment before I'll install it, and a few small detail. At this moment it's about, I'd say, 95% complete.

Looks good, and great to hear another Z13 is on UK roads, I notice you have fitted a Beowulf radiator grill, I had one on mine but found the grill reduced the airflow to the radiator also combined with some repairs on the core the bike tended to run on the warm side so reverted back to the mesh guard. I managed to get a used radiator off flea bay and now the temp gauge rarely gets to a 1/3 of they way across when riding,

Martin, glad you're enjoying the Z13 after all your hard work: I'm sure you'll soon have the misfire sorted !.
DVLA can be a challenge can't they - bless em !

Hi Gavin,

A very good point. As you know we have been experiencing a heat wave here in the UK and I've noticed that the temperature gauge has been reading around the 3/4 mark in traffic. Not too bad on open roads or motorways. I will refurbish the original grill and put that on to see what difference it makes.
