This is the bike on the day I bought it. It came from the USA. It says made by Kawasaki 1/82, then after the full VIN and then in brackets KZT30A and 'Made in Japan'.
What type of gas tank is this? It doesn't look square as most. Is it 'sport'?

Stan, sorry forgot you would have the smaller US tank fitted - Doh !
Ive previously bought tank + side panel badges (not cheap but excellent quality) from a Canadian based supplier (Ontario I think): Diablo Cycle. Ive also bought some hard to get Z1 parts again good quality. They used to stock the US KZ decal kits - not sure if its of any use

Hi Stan,

I had the same peanut shaped tank on my American import which I changed for this one.

Yes Stan, that is the same tank as my US specification A4 too.

The tank shape on the 1300 US spec bikes changed from the small ( small compared to European spec ) squared -off type of the A1 and A2, to the peanut shaped tank of the 1981 A3 and 1982 A4 and 1983 A5.

In other words, I am fucked when it comes to the classic 1300 shape tank? It's ok for now. Still looks good. Still KZ1300. I will get this one going and keep all other options in the peripherals. The question is the decals.... \those onlone will fit the rear cowl, the front fender, etc. just the tank... Anyway.. strip first (I wish I could invite a bunch of strippers to take care of that!! hahaha), then 'shaping'. Yep, that I could apply to strippers as well.

Spent 3.5 hours today sand blasting the frame and other parts. Non stop. Then dropped them at a powder coating place. Pick up next Wednesday. Holly shit.... Once the frame is back like new, I have only one option - putting this bike together!
