Ok.
Finally got around to starting on the A2 I inherited from my uncle.
So far I've stripped the La Parisienne touring fairing and panniers.
She turns over but not surprisingly wont kick.
Chucked a bit of "Start ya bastard" down her throat which resulted in a nice backfire and some flames through the airbox!
So ripped the carbs off, 2x seem pretty clean but the 3rd has sticky slides. The old fuel that came out was blood red so the next step is to strip and ultrasonic clean all 3x carbs.
So far the shopping list includes:
Front MC rebuild kit
Fork seals
Cam chain tensioner
Air filter
3x carb to airbox boots
Front/rear tyres
Front brake pads
Steering head bearings
Plugs/oil/coolant
New mounts for headlight (ears were cut off when fairing was fitted)

I'm sure there will be more as I dig deeper into it.
Will post more pics as I progress

The starting point. I do have both side covers.

17K kms. Very nice.

Sans fairing. Much better.

No more pannier rack and carbs out.

Mmmmmmm delicious.......

LH carb is the shitty one.

Looking forward to seeing how you get along. Interesting "red" in the fuel. I wonder if that's what's left after fuel with stabilizer evaporated off??

Not sure.
Bike had been laid up since 97 so could be anything.

Is it worth getting rid of the standard fuel solenoid. Heard they aren't terribly reliable.

That Bike is not an A2 or an A1, might be worth you finding out what you got, your IC igniter is telling me this along with the block and no place to mount A1/A2 pickups
17 years a Z13 owner at present 3 x A1's and an A4

well spotted Mark, could be A4 or A5 as it has a large window in the clutch cover.
if the frame Number is between KZT30A-014101 and KZT30A-015900 then its an A4 after that its an A5

Interesting, thanks. To be honest I hadn't looked too much into that, had just kind of assumed it was an A2 as it was registered as 1980 year of manufacture......

So the frame # is the best bet for determining the series?
I'll check it out and post back.

Thanks!
