Ok. Was doing some tinkering tonight and noticed some clear liquid that felt like oily water leaking out the bottom of the stator cover.
Any thoughts on where the water may have come from?
These are oil filled in the stator yeah?

Yes there is oil under the stator cover but it shouldn't be oily water.

Not sure what I was thinking last night, lack of sleep maybe.......
The watery leak was coming from the starter clutch cover.

I haven't investigated further, however are there any common paths where these motors will leak water into the oil?

I need to drop this load of oil, run a fresh batch and then dump it again to see what (if any) water ends up in there. Could possibly be water from just sitting for years.

If you have been starting it every now and then but no rides then that will cause a condensation build up especially as the air temp start to go down this time of the year.

Pretty much exactly what I've been doing.....
Will do an oil change and hopefully try not to just give it short bursts. Get some heat in to drive the water off.
Filter arrived this week, so best I get cracking.
