I gather you're trying to bypass this switch?

This probably won't be much help to you but when I picked up my ZN this past summer, the PO had paid a mechanic (I had the receipt in my documentation bundle) to bypass the side stand switch (not sure why - there was nothing wrong with the switch). The clever mechanic made a short jumper wire with naked connector pins on both ends (I think they were males but really can't remember) and inserted them in the open switch connector. The beauty was, reverting back to normal (which was one of the first things I 'fixed' on the bike) required only pulling the jumper wire and plugging the connector back together.,

OK then. I thought you were referring to the Main-Switch under the left (SIDE) cover !

LOL, I think you're right scotch. I saw 'SIDE SWITCH ' and read 'side stand switch'.
I think I posted this before but the main switch, the one under the left side cover, on my 79 never worked right. If moved from the ON position, it would blow a fuse every time. Local dealer mechanic couldn't figure it out. Specialist brought in from Kawasaki Canada coudln't figure it out either. The official Kawasaki fix was to tell me not to use the switch (how lame is that?).

Im pretty sure the side main switch caused my battery to drain somehow. Id like to remove it to have one less thing to worry about.
