Thought I would revive this thread as I have managed to rebuild the air ride rear shocks.
To cut a long story short, these shocks came with my 13 in a bag of other bits.
The seals were leaking and the balance pipe had been cut so nothing to loose as an experiment in taking these apart. According to the style and part number they are fitted to Z750 customs.
First pic shows the damper adjuster removed.
Second, a home made spring compressor to release the top mounting.
Third shows a bit of butchery to get the retaing ring and old seal out.
The seal is std size fork seal 45x57x10.5.
Replace retaining ring with 65mm circlip.
The top body of the unit appears to be chrome plated steel so a careful cleanup.
The lower body is Stainless and any scores can be blended on the buffer.
The balance pipe and airfiller ports I blanked off with hydraulic stop ends as I do not intend running any air.
The oil fill level as there are no specs for the amount I guessed to the top of the lower body with spring compressed as the outer body will fill to this level.
I used SAE5 fork oil.
The rebuilt shocks give a plush comfortable ride although this could be easily adjusted with grades of oil and the damper adjustment.
