Hi Guys
finally sorted the tacho issue, Scotch was right magnet was covered in crap , cleaned and freed it up and no more gremlins although did cause a bit of confusion when I tried another one that I had and it showed exactly the same symptoms but it turned out that was seized as well so just goes to show never take the obvious as fact
thanks for all your help
Paul

Now you know you just have to ride it more often to blow the cobwebs out of it

Thanks for letting us know. It's surprising how many little bug bits-n-pieces I've found in the instrument case over the years. With 2 cable entries thru sizable holes in the back-plate I guess bugs find it an attractive place to set-up home.

I'm thinking a felt or foam "washer" sized appropriately might seal these areas. Slide them over the male end of the tach and speedo, then replace the back-plate. That should deal with the "stupid" bugs! The "smart" ones will always find a way in......to anywhere !
