Fuel tank sealer
3 years 8 months ago
The inside of my tank is a little rusty especially at the bottom. Nothing too bad and certainly no holes. I'm removing the rust as best I can, using electrolysis. I've had good results in the past with that process. I'm wondering if to use a tank sealer or not? I bought some "Petseal ultra" which says it's ok with Ethanol. After much googling, It seems to be a mixed bag of results. I'm thinking It may be the lesser of 2 evils to stick with a bit of rust in the fuel filter than a dissolving or non hardening tank sealer. What's the general opinion on tank sealers? And do they last?

Get yourself a POR15 motorcycle tank kit. I'll get rid of the rust and other crap in there and the sealer will prevent it from coming back.

Thanks, I had a look at that, but $103.55 with tax and shipping from Ebay it's not cheap. I wonder how it compares to Petseal ultra?

I'm based in France,. I guess it would be a lot cheaper if I was in the US. I've used POR15 but never the tank sealer. The tax and shipping for that is a killer.
Thanks paulb good to hear a positive result with petseal. It did cross my mind if 1 bottle would be enough for the z1300 monster fuel tank.
Still wondering which way to go. a whole week of electrolysis so far and still more rust and muck coming out.
