100BHP restriction France
5 years 6 months ago
I have five Z1300 at the moment. All carb bikes circa 1980/1981. One is from France. I have never really noticed any difference riding it to the others, but it is supposed to be restricted to 100BHP. It was in Holland for 2 years, and may have been de-restricted, cannot tell unless dyno for sure, but anyone know how they were restricted? Carbs different? Carb rubbers restricted? Different cams? Etc etc...................Not really bothered, but have it for sale and would like to be able to say how to make it up to the 120 if anyone so inclined.

Thanks. These are nearest thing to electric bike, are just so smooth. Had a CBX1000 and i find handling and brakes better on these, and engine bulletproof. Lot of CBX have apparently chucked rods lately!

As per my information the restriction has been manged in tow ways:
- mechanical limited for the throttle so you can open it only to a certain extent, but not fully
- air filter reduction

My understanding is that no early CARB Z1300 was restricted by this Euro 100 BHP Law and all were made 120 BHP ?
The early model CBX1000Z was 105 BHP and did not drop to 100 BHP until the PRO LINK model was launched later in the 1980's
I dont think the 100 BHP law came in until 1983 / 84 or later ?
