Can someone help me to identify this engine. I'm rebuiding a A3 engine and wondering if I can use the camshafts in this engine. They look almost new.
Gpz 750 Turbo 1984, Gpz 750 Turbo 1985, KZ 1300 1981.

I'm fairly certain the cams were pretty much the same across the whole KZ1300 line. My only concern would be the relationship between the cams and the head/holders (as I'm fairly certain the two were machined together as a unit).
I'll wait until experts chime in, but that's my two cents...
(If you transplant the entire head, cams, valves and all, you should be perfectly fine.)

Check the cams for straight (true) and all should be fine. The things you cant mix and match are the cam bearing caps they are matched to the head and that specific journal. Don't ever mix them up or you will need to do some time consuming work to get them match up again.

Can I swap the complete cylinder head? Any Idea on what year the engine might be? Is it a ZG
I assume the hole engine is in mint condition. I will go ahead and split it apart and see if I can use the cylinder block and more.

I did a straight cylinder head swap which included all it's original fittings ie cams bearings etc that went with that head. Cylinder head I used was from an A3 onto an A1. No problems. As previously advised don't mix and components, if changing do a complete unit change. Remember the cylinder block on the A3 is different to the others so keep with your original block if there are no problems with it. To help identify the engine you are working with best bet is to post a pic showing the right hand side of the block as you sit on the bike or a picture of the Pick Ups fitted along with information on where they are located

judging by the engine number that would probably be a
1983 Z1300-A5 frame numbers started at KZT30A-015901
engine numbers had KZT30AE ******
yours looks like an A5 engine just before the DFI was bought in..
