It's a wasted spark system and to be firing on #1 and not on #6 then the plug is the problem. It's not sparking but allowing the current through to #1

I'm looking around in the shed and I see that I still have the original coils, not old original ones but replacement ones that have been hanging up for ages, might just swap back to them .. I just have to find the ballast block, pretty sure I put it somewhere safe, now if I can just remember where the heck that was
, I know they worked, easier than fiddling with multi-meters in my opinion, and at least they are smaller than those big bloody yellow coils that always get in the way, an option I guess, it's Sunday here, early, waiting for the paper delivery, work tomorrow, maybe look at it next weekend, or after work this week. I ran a quick gaze over the wiring to the "suspect" coil, all seems ok, no sign of any short anywhere, no blue flashes of electricity leaking out
, still wondering if I can run ordinary Hi tension leads or do they have to be resistance type ??, if I decide to just change the lead, ok at least I sort of know why she is running bad, as my old dad use to say, it's either spark or fuel, I ruled out the fuel bit, well I hope I have
, cheers all

my old coils are in pretty good nick, almost new, found two ballast blocks, now does anyone know where the block mounts to, can't remember, and I'm pretty sure there isn't a decent photo in the manual where it goes, and the yellow wires from the ballast go to the negative side of the coils ?? and the three colours go to the positive side ?, I have those written down from when I took them off, that's right huh ???

Re: Question about timing on A1
7 years 11 months agoThe wiring diagram shows a single yellow wire going to the ballaast resistor and then 3 pink wires coming off of the 3 terminals on the ballast resistor going to the coils. In the test procedure it identifies placing the positive test lead on the black blue or green wire so that would indicate to me that those 3 wires are on the positive terminal of the coil and the 3 pink leads would be on the negative coil terminals. Could be at some point you rewired the 3 pink wires with 3 yellow wires to go directly to the coils when you had the ballast out.kza13 wrote: my old coils are in pretty good nick, almost new, found two ballast blocks, now does anyone know where the block mounts to, can't remember, and I'm pretty sure there isn't a decent photo in the manual where it goes, and the yellow wires from the ballast go to the negative side of the coils ?? and the three colours go to the positive side ?, I have those written down from when I took them off, that's right huh ???
