Thanks so much Stan, those pics are a great help. And what a clean engine that is! Looks virtually new!
Kawboy, when I split mine I will see if I can locate the web you are concerned about. Only thing I saw was the oil filter gauze, but that sits on the other side of the metal of where the chain runs.

Think of the great sense of achievement, and subsequent boost to your confidence, when you’ve successfully done the job, Paul. That is worth a lot.
The transmission components certainly look big and strong on this Kawasaki. I remember reading a Q&A session at the time of the bike’s launch. The motorcycle press was asking the Kawasaki engineers why the bike was so heavy. The answer was, in part, that the bike had been built to be durable, and as a consequence , the components such as the gears were thicker and stronger than those in competitor’s motorcycles. Looking at Stan’s great photos, I can see their point.

Paul - could you take a couple photos of each both engine sides before disassembly? I mean under the left and side covers where the stator and starter gears are, as well as inside the covers. Cheers! Hope I'm not too late.

No problem Stan.
I probably won't start the process until the wife has gone to Oz, Nov 5th onwards.... Until then I am still sanding and prepping the rest of the covers for paint.

Yeah, thank you. I haven't seen this year's engine and I am going by my investigative instincts and the book. It would be good to see some reference photos to have an idea what parts parts might be missing and what's the set up, for reference.
