Lights work, all fluids are in, engine turns over nicely, no leaks!
Just working on the petcock and fuel level sender.

Tried to install the engine guards and gave up for now. Those I have need to be spaced away from the engine covers ('82 A4). On the left side. The lower engine mount bolt came with a weird hexagonal spacer, and I managed to space correctly the top one with a few washers. But now the engine mount bolt is short! Maybe earlier models were not as wide and the guard I got is from such a model? Can anyone fill me in on the secrets of engine guards mounting?
Of course I can figure it out if I want to install those I have, so no need to fill me in with the obvious. Just wondering how originally these guards came, if with any required by manufacturer of oem or aftermarket extra parts.

Hi Stan,
Your left engine casing looks like it is the wider casing with the secondary stator/rotor. It may be that your engine guards were deigned for the models without the left hand generator.
