Re: Yellow Perils Up-date
8 years 5 months ago - 8 years 5 months agoWill be laying the motor on it's side, will use water pipe lagging on the frame and some protective rags along with another pair of hands, have fitted these engines in the past both ways but whichever way I allways ensure the sump, oil pickup and cam covers are all off to give maximum clearance, from there it is a matter of careful and slowly. Thanks all for the positive comments and advise always welcome. Will fit the motor once the frame is back and prepped, i.e. all bolt threads cleaned and re-tapped, center stand re-fitted. Want to leave the motor now for at least a week to let paint go off and harden. Further intend on the same day to get back and front end in, all is refurbished, prepped and ready to go. Had a busy month but can't do much more now till frame comes home. Cheers Pete F for the positives, you put me onto Hammerite years ago.hillsy wrote: Don't know if this is practical for the Z, but for all my previous 4 cyl bikes it was easiest to lay the motor on its side and lift the bare frame over it to bolt the engine back in. Not sure how much a 13 frame weighs.......but it's got to be less than the motor....haha....

Looks very good Mark. I wouldn't leave any yellow parts visible as it could cause recuring nightmares and uncontrolable screaming and shaking.

Going to be stunning - cant wait to see her get re-assembled. Are you still thinking of a "Lawson" paint job ?
Cheers Tim
