Hi Pete, hope this is not too late but down here in hot and mostly humid Guatemala I use Motul 3000 20w50 motorcycle specific oil. No complaints. Best regards and a Happy New Year to everybody!

Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong, but motorcycle specific oils have additives to withstand the shearing effects of the transmission. I think that using oil intended for a car in a motorcycle engine / transmission will result in the level of protection diminishing
at a faster rate than if the bike specific oil was used.
Hope that makes sense!

Car oil usually has "friction modifiers" in it which will ruin a wet clutch, you need oil without it so the clutch will "grip", I learnt the hard way many many years ago in an old trail bike I had, not nice
and i'm still using the 15w50 oil I have been using for a while now, works well, so why change I guess, yesterday it was 44c (105f) and went for a little ride, the oil and cooling system really got a work out, cheers all and a safe riding 2014

Golden Spectro 4 Synthetic 10/40. Used in the colder climate of the pacific northwest U.S.
Synthetic in my K1200GT, Dino oil of the same brand for both my KZ's. With Lucas oil stabilizer for the older KZ's 20% mixture as per the bottles recommendation.
Regards.
