It is a bit "cheeky" of NGK not to make that difference obvious, but it got me good & proper so I wont make the same mistake again !!

I think the way to remember, and to get the word out on is the color of the tip.

The ones that come off are aluminum (Silver)

The ones that are permanently attached are (Black)

Todd,

Correct,

Problem is most suppliers just use a Generic Plug Images on Ebay........so the only way to be certain is to ask the question.
The "11" spec plugs I bought had a silver cap in the Ebay image but arrived with fixed caps.

BE WARNED !!

I heard a rumour there is a difference between the NGK spark-plugs that are made in Japan versus those manufactured in France. According to this the ones from Japan are OK ...

Anyone who can comment ?

I think I can...........?

I noticed some years ago there were suddenly 2 different types of NGK plugs.

One has a GOLD type anodized metal body & the other had a SILVER zinc type body.

The GOLD ones mainly came in new cars & bikes........but NEVER the Silver ones, they were only sold as spare parts / replacements.

I also found the silver ones were not as good quality as the silver ones (softer metal body & fouled easier).

Although I cannot prove this, I am pretty sure the Gold ones are from Japan & made for vehicle manufacturers to fit to new vehicles, whilst the Silver ones are the French (lower quality) ones sold as spares & replacements.
