Was it the speedo and that he forgot to pinstripe the front fender? Just took a quick glance so I may have missed it as well lol.

my '79 has the black air box covers, I have a spare new set of chrome stand offs for the badge for the smaller tank, I have the bigger tank, so the small tank does have the chrome stand offs, the Cop version of the earlier models came with a longer rear guard, but that can't be it, the speedo is right if your in a country that is metric, all aussie ones are in KPH, no MPH on them, I like all the original stickers on it, can't remember the one on the tank though, although it probably was there from the showroom floor like the one on the tacho, got me beat ???
after tuesday even the calendar goes WTF

This is getting a bit confusing
I have a 1980 KZ1300 which has the smaller tank with the chrome mountings and a 85mph speedo.
I'm sticking to the "wrong" speedo option

Is it to do with the throttle cables coming out of the twist grip -some I've seen come out of the top instead of below as in the pics -did the first models have them coming out the top?

Why Have Four When You Can Have Six ?

The USA model KZ1300 had HIGH handlebars so they made the cable come out of the BOTTOM of the switch unit as if they came out of the top, they would have been too high.
The UK / European model had much lower handlebars, so the cables came out of the top of the switch or if not they would hit the tank when at full lock as the tank is larger.
The STANDARD USA KZ1300 had a smaller tank than Euro UK model with chrome badge mounts. However these mounts are a slightly different shape & smaller.
There was a also a USA KZ1300 with a tear drop tank. That one did not have the chrome mounts due to it being a different rounded shape. The badges went straight onto the tank sides.
There was also a USA TOURING model which had the same tank as the EURO K model.
