Hi i'm Tom, owner of a really nice (cosmetically, anyway) 1979 KZ1300A with only 8800 miles
Pulled it out the other day and am cleaning tank and wondering what to do next
(Cam Chain replacement or no?)
Have owned about everything, but sold most years ago and am probably keeping this one
Anyway, good to be here and hope to find some answers on the BIG KZ

That looks superb! Good originality. Have you owned it from new? What attracted you to the 1300?
Regarding the cam chain tensioner, there is a lot of information on this forum describing the deficiency in the design, and the options for overcoming it.

That's sucker's got the original tires on it, too! Or at least tires with the original tread pattern. Very cool!
(One of my my little side hobbies I picked up in quarantine was to see how difficult it was to get period-correct tires for when I had to replace mine. Turns out, the answer if "very".)
Very beautiful machine.
