Of Tires...

What's the current thinking regarding tire selection for the KZ13 platform?
Need new ones, currently running Bridgestone Spitfires... which have sidewall cracking.

Hoping to find a set that are a little 'taller' for easier center stand action...
(I know, in theory, they should all be same size but have seen differences for same size stampings on my FJR)

What tires did you end up going with? My restoration is wrapping up, and I was hoping for some recommendations. I live in Florida, so hot humid asphalt for 7 months of the year, yippie! I really just want something reliable with the great traction. Thanks in advance!

Tire choice is on about the same level as choosing engine oil. There are lots of choices, so it goes something like how much do you want to spend , where you ride- that is , alot of straight roads or more twisty , hard braking type roads.
When new, the bike came with 110/90V-18 . front.   130/90V-17 rear.. And with a tread pattern that maybe not available any longer.
Dunlop D404 are very common on bikes like this , but have a tread pattern that is quite flat -but it puts most of it's rubber on the asphalt and lasts ok.
Better if the road is mainly straight . So that would be a 130/90-17 M/C 68H.
Another bike I have is using Bridgestone Spitfire -same tire size. Were on the bike when I bought it. Much better for twisty roads. More like the Sport Demons.

 

My Z doesn’t need tyres at the moment but I’ve been using Bridgestone BT45’s (now superseded by the BT46) on my other bike. Great tyres, very grippy and a decent wear rate
