Hi, I’ve been trying to get my 79 KZ1300 road worthy. Haven’t had any luck finding a mechanic familiar with  the bike. Any help would be appreciated! Zip code 11782

Have you considered doing the work yourself with the aid of the factory service manual and the expert guidance available on this website?

As a matter of fact I have considered it. I have the manual, new gasket and caps. I understand there is a special tool involved. Definitely would be would need help along the way.
Thanks,

I did consider it. I have new gasket and caps. Isn’t a special tool involved, and are shims easily available?
Thanks

29mm valve shims  fit many makes and models range from 2.00mm - 3.10mm. Some dealerships used to offer shim swapping for a minimal price. Take them the shims you don't need and get the ones you do. Alternatively, keep the old ones for possible shim changing later and buy new ones for $9.00 a piece??

Valve shim adjusting tool   $10.97 US plus shipping.

When adjusting valves at the different crank positions do you do all the exhaust at one time and move crank and do all intake?
