Hi Stan,
I don't know of anything that will really repair rubber cracks. I'll watch with interest to see if anyone else has a solution.
Sorry

Just an idea - did you ever try neoprene-repair ? Neopren is a form of rubber and usually repaired with isocyanates. Would be good to know what rubber (NBR, SBR, ...) it is.

It's the rear wheel shock dumper. The dumper itself is fine, but the rectangular connecting parts, which keep the whole assembly together have small cracks. It doesn't affect the dumpers performance, as it stays in the wheel no matter what, but it would be nice to have it refreshed.

I tried Tru-Flate Cement 2 for repairing tires. I wiped the parts with acetone and applied this cement. It didn't work. There are a number of glues when you search google, but non was available at Lordco. I am not going to buy them all just to experiment..

As to softening any old hard rubber, I read that people have good results boiling it in water with some wintergreen oil. Haven't tried it yet, but I'm going to by it today. It can also be used to soothe pains after polishing all the parts!

I accidentally damaged the one of the carb intake rubbers on my Z 1000. As a temporary measure I repaired it with some rubber solution glue from a puncture repair kit. It's been temporary for over two years now.
