Polishing headers was created by scotch
I tried hand polishing the headers but to no avail. However; some WHITE polishing compound on a buffing wheel did the trick. How long it will last has yet to be seen as I expect they'll "Blue" again but I did get the minor dullness out of them, lower down, created by years of being sand-blasted from the front wheel.

First time I ever used Autosol was on the headers of my then new 1972 kawasaki S2 350cc triple. Cleaned them up real quick. Only problem was I only needed a on/off throttle. It was either wound out to redline or stopped for the night. Needless to say the pipes were blue shortly after cleaning. Cops used to look at them and suggest I might try slowing down. Would have called for less elbow grease cleaning them all the time.

Be careful with Autosol, it will scratch chrome. Sometimes it seem like it's the only thing that will work but it does leave scratches.

A mate of mine swears by a product called "Blue Job" (yeah catchy name) - specifically for blue headers:

I've seen the before and after on his old Moto Guzzi's and it does seem to work.

I suppose the headers are single walled ?
Just asking, because the original Z13 headers are double-walled which prevents discoloration.
