I BOUGHT a 1980 kz 1300 last summer....dont know if its an a or b? Anyway gas tank inside was rusty so I bought a used one in better shape... but its a 1981 kz 1300(465 tank?) so called.... looks slightly different . Will it fit?

Bike seems to ride well. What should I watch for or do in advance. Only 13 K miles.

My FIRST kAWa WAS A 1973 Z1 900 ..THAT WAS SOMETHING...still have it garaged 30 years.

Well nice to meet you all.Im from central New York State USA

Hello from the west coast Joe:

The Best way to get a leg up on matters related to the 1300 are reading the current Technical forums and reviewing the old tech page articles.

Directions from the main page:
"The old tech page has been reconfigured as a series of searchable articles. It can be accessed from any page by selecting the "FAQ" button near the top left corner."

Regards.

Todd.

Hi
I had the same problems with my fuel tank and after some research the best answer i could find was to fill the tank with a good Cider Vinegar and let it stand for a day.
i think a lot depends on how thick the rust is, surface or deeper.
i never got round to trying it as my tank had holes under the paintwork and was a total right off. it had been laying in a damp shed for over 2 years before i got it.
theres plenty of vids on youtube about it
good luck
