I called my Kawasaki dealer without success. He said that the gear is not longer available.

Did you specifically ask him to check Kawasaki Japan for the item? I only ask because when you go to the dealer and ask for a part, they check their stock and then they check their distributors stock and if the distributor is no longer stocking the item then the item shows up on the dealer's screen as being no longer available. If the dealer doesn't challenge the distributor to check with the manufacturer, then the customer loses. That's why i ask the dealer to check for stock on the Kawasaki Japan site. It's quite possible kawasaki Japan has items available but the distributor doesn't feel it's in their best interest to continue stocking those items. Business is business and everyone is trying to keep an eye on their bottom line.

MCG / Z1300.de list them - probably a reproduction.

I'd replace that cam gear. Looks thin and worn. Don't let saving on $50 part and some labor destroy that motor.

You've got a bit of work ahead of you with that tank. Clean and seal it before you ever think of trying to start it. Like scotch says, an inline fuel filter is a must in any case.

I agree - The "srocket" should be replaced in this case because it seems logical the engine needs some work and will have the cyl-head off.

Anybody help here??

The Germans are here. But as mentioned before I would either try MCG (www.z1300.de) or Wilfried. Both are reliable sources of parts and if you are lucky they already have reproduced some of the wanted items.

cheers,

The info about the german website was very helpful. I think I have found everything I need. Thanks you guys.
Here comes me next question. The fuel tank I have has no mounting holes for the emblem base. Are there some holes somewhere?

Thanks
