Can any members share their experiences with regard to valve clearance on these engines? Does the clearance tend to get smaller as a new engine runs in - due to the settling in of the valve seats etc - and thereafter stay pretty much within specifications?
Is the top end of the 1300 engine quiet running, or does it sound tappetty? I've not had my bike running since I bought it, so I'm curious. I used to own a XS Eleven, a fabulous engine, but I noticed that after a hard run it would make a ticking sound from the camshaft area. I put this down to it being an air cooled engine, and the various heat induced stresses causing some clearances in the engine to open up. Presumably the KZ1300 will run at more consistent temperatures, and, I'm thinking, remain mechanically. quieter.
